Digital Games’ Revenue increased by 9% in May for Mobile, Console and PC Digital Sales Steadily Declining

Last month, NetherRealm’s Injustice 2 had quite a strong launch. But if we take a look into the numbers, it was actually its mobile version of Injustice 2 that got a lot of attention. Based from Superdata’s research, the worldwide digital games market brought about $7.8 billion in the month of May — that’s a 9% jump this year.

The huge increase was from the 16% year-over-year on mobile, free-to-play games with 17% up, and 12% increase on the pay-to-play/subscription. In the report, it alsot shows the estimated digital sales on consoles with a 500,000 figure for Injustice 2, however, it did not save both the Xbox One and PS4’s shrinking digits of 7% every year.

The decline is even worse on PC, which apparently didn’t have a port of Injustice 2 to help offset the decline. Year after year, the digital revenues of PC were down to 30%.
