New PlayStation Boss Tells Everyone Not To ‘Worry’ About Games As A Service – NEW UPDATE: Twitter Accounts Suspended

UPDATE: 01/11/2018 5:47PM

Apparently, the Twitter accounts of both Andrew House (@AndyHousePS) and John Kodera (@TsuyohiKodera) were fake. Currently, both Twitter accounts are suspended. As of the moment, there are no further comments from Sony Interactive Entertainment. We will update the news once we get further details.

Original Story follows…

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s newly appointed CEO, John Kodera, assures everyone that the single-player experiences will still continue as PlayStation’s vision is “different”.

In October of last year, Kodera replaced Andrew House as the new Chief Executive Officer at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Around a month after Kodera’s appointment as CEO, the company is expecting the new PlayStation boss to improve its Network Services and that Kenichiro Yoshida saw significant sales results in microtransactions over the past months.

However, Kodera responded to a Twitter post from a fan that we shouldn’t be worried about the Games As A Service model.

Knowing there are tons of single-player experiences coming to the PS4 this year, which includes Detroit: Become Human, Spider-Man, and possibly both Death Stranding and God of War, Kodera’s words are already deemed true.

In other news, Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially revealed their year-end sales figure. The company announced that the PS4 sales reached 5.9 million units sold in the holiday season, and sold more than 73.6 million units as of December 31, 2017. We see more and more PS4 units sold each year, and the install base of Sony’s current generation console is topping the charts.

“Thanks to the continued support from our fans across the globe, we are honored to announce remarkable sales during the holiday season,” said John Kodera, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “PlayStation Network continues to demonstrate spectacular growth, with the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers surpassing 31.5 million and PS Store recording its largest-ever monthly contents sales in December 2017. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our community and our partners for helping us achieve such phenomenal milestones. We promise our unwavering commitment to bring more amazing experiences to our fans, including exclusive games and innovative network services, as PS4 continues to flourish as the best place to play.”
