EA Won’t Get a Single Dollar From A Way Out – Josef Fares

So it’s no secret that EA is a money hungry company. More so than others. This was especially obvious after their infamous Star Wars: Battlefront II incident. So it comes as a surprise when a developer states out that they aren’t going to get a single dollar out of a game they are publishing.

That’s exactly what happened with the upcoming game, A Way Out. According to Josef Fares, about a hundred percent of the income will be going to the developers for making the game. Fares also states out that EA has been very supportive despite this fact.

On another note, while this discussion took place, Fares also goes to show some gameplay. He reveals that A Way Out will be around 6 to 8 hours long. There will be no microtransactions. The gameplay sports a two player split screen coop. He mentions that he wants to make it unpredictable for players of every level.

It seems that in order to complete the game, you’d have to play it with someone else. Thankfully, it does seem easy with the “friends pass free trial.” This lets you play the full game if your friend owns a copy. Though, if you can’t find anyone else to play with, you may be out of luck. You can play it split-screen locally or online.

Fares also reveals the development team initially had around 10 people; It had later bumped up to 40. He is very passionate about this work and will not let anyone force him to change his views. Even if someone offered him $10 million to turn the game into a single player experience, he would turn it down.

Also, there are no plans for a Nintendo Switch version of the game. At least, not yet.

A Way Out will be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
