Updates from Batman Arkham Knight Issues

With Batman Arkham Knight‘s release last 2 days ago encountered a lot of performance issues on PC, the well-anticipated game from Rocksteady Studios was considered to be one of the worse PC port in 2015. The blame is going back and forth to Rocksteady and Warner Bros. for the issues that players are having with the game, but if most of you didn’t know some “truth” in this, the PC version of Batman Arkham Knight was actually developed by an outsourced team, Iron Galaxy Studios. Mortal Kombat X did have some issues and the PC port was also developed by Iron Galaxy leaving the actual developers carry all the burden of fixing a lot of things.

However, Rocksteady and Warner Bros. are already aware of the performance issues surrounding on PC and is working on the issue at the moment. For now, Yorick, Community Manager, posted an update in their forums giving players recommended graphics option settings for them to use in the meantime:

Minimum Hardware Specs

(or equivalent)

  • Resolution: 1280×720
  • V-Sync: Off
  • Anti-Aliasing: Off
  • Texture Resolution: Low
  • Shadow Quality: Low
  • Level of Detail: Low
  • Interactive Smoke/Fog: Off
  • Interactive Paper Debris: Off
  • Enhanced Rain: Off
  • Enhanced Light Shafts: Off

Expected:  30fps (capped)

It is incredibly important that users with a min spec video card with 2 GB of dedicated VRAM (or 3 GB on AMD) to keep the Texture Resolution set to Low.  Increasing this to Normal will cause significant performance issues.

By default, the game may set the user’s monitor to the maximum output offered.  Users should reset to 720p on min spec hardware.

With these settings on Min Spec AMD GPU’s, users can expect some minor texture pops, occasional loading symbols during fast-paced scenarios, and some hitches & stuttering when gliding or driving the Batmobile.

Recommended Hardware Specs

(or equivalent)

  • Resolution: 1920×1080
  • V-Sync: On
  • Anti-Aliasing: On
  • Texture Resolution: Normal
  • Shadow Quality: Normal
  • Level of Detail: Normal
  • Interactive Smoke/Fog: Off
  • Interactive Paper Debris: Off
  • Enhanced Rain: Off
  • Enhanced Light Shafts: Off

Expected: 30fps (capped)

The Recommended Spec is intended to deliver an experience on par with the current generation of gaming platforms.

For an optimal experience, users with recommended spec hardware should not set their resolution higher than 1080p.

By default, the game may set Shadow Quality and Level of Detail to High on Recommended Spec hardware.  Users should revert these to Normal.

With these settings on Rec Spec AMD GPUs, users can expect some minor texture pops, occasional loading symbols during fast-paced scenarios, and some hitches & stuttering when gliding or driving the Batmobile.  To help alleviate this, AMD users using Rec Spec GPU’s should turn Texture Resolution, Shadow Quality, and Level of Detail to Low.  We continue to work closely with AMD to resolve these issues as soon as possible; make sure you have the most current drivers and check back here for updates on when the next driver version is available.”

It looks like AMD GPUs have more problem with rendering textures which makes Nvidia GPU users can set their game on par with the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Players will have to wait for a future patch from Rocksteady and driver updates from GPU manufacturers to fix this problem. We do hope that Rocksteady and Warner are doing their best to get the problem fix as soon as possible or they’ll suffer heavy losses.

Our review of the game will be posted as early as July 3 to make sure we can get most of what the game has to offer aside from these issues.
