Minecraft Story Mode Season 2: Above and Beyond Review – A Fantastic Ending

It’s really difficult to speak about the final episode without spoiling any of the previous.

So this review has been written with knowledge in mind, that you have already played the previous episodic installments for this Season. However, there won’t be any spoilers for this particular one.

Episode 5 starts off rather strongly. It means business and shows you just how much things have changed since Romeo took control of Jessie’s identity and how much of Beacontown has changed for the worse.

Of course, this is the final episode and some pretty big decisions have to be made here.

One of the biggest complaints to be had is that the previous choices for each episode leading up to this one don’t quite feel impactful as they should’ve been. The truly big impactful choices are from the final episode alone. This has been a frequent habit of Telltale installments to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes and give them the illusion of choice. Jessie will always beat the Admin regardless of what happens. There’s no bad ending. That being said, complaining about this is going to make me sound like a broken record.

On that note, nothing new can really be said about this episode that I didn’t already say in my previous impressions of the ones that came before. The story is great, characters are surprisingly in depth, and combat makes a welcome return with different challenges and enemies.

What’s really important to know, is that is this a worthy conclusion for the 2nd season of Telltale Minecraft?

Well, yes it is. Everything is resolved in this episode with truths and motivations coming out into the open. Everything is wonderfully packaged and wrapped up. There is still a chance for Season 3, however. So we can still look forward to that.

Overall, if you’re reading this review, then you probably already have the previous installments. You might as well buy this one to complete the story. It is well worth it.
