Fumito Ueda Is Working On A New Project; A Concept Art Teaser

Known for his work of great adventures and mythical creatures in The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, and his team over at genDESIGN, has given us a slight glimpse of what is to come. Ueda-san, creators of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, posted an intriguing New Year’s image that looks more like a teaser for his new project.

If you look closely at the concept art, you will notice a straight beaming light on top of a young girl sitting on a pavement with something lying just a few meters away from her. What apparently looks like a hand and a knee, this creature shows similarities of a human. While it is still not clear as to what this game might be, but there is already a hint of like a King Kong inspired adventure – with a major The Last Guardian formula added.

It is important to note that Ueda-san is no longer connected to Sony directly as his studio, genDESIGN, is an independent studio who helped SIE Japan Studios with The Last Guardian‘s port to the PS4. There is a big chance this upcoming game from Ueda-san will arrive on Nintendo Switch – or even the Xbox One as the mid-generation upgrade, the Xbox One X, provides more room for opportunities and development. Unless Sony wants to fund the project much like Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding, we will never know yet for sure.
