A Way Out escape scene

The heat cannot be ignored, therefore it only means one thing: summer is upon us. Now is the perfect time to reach that elusive hashtag body goals and buy the perfect swimwear to go along with it. But if you are like me who prefers the comforts of my four-walled world – namely my room, I would rather park my royal behind in a plum couch and enjoy hours and hours of entertainment with a dear friend. With A Way Out kickstarting the year that will pave the way for great Co-op games to come. I’ve come up with 5 of the best coop games that are coming out this year.

In no particular order, here are my Top 5 Co-Op games that you need to look forward to this 2018:

Dead Dozen

This game features a horror survival genre where you and some friends can either play as a Survivor or a Ghoul. Now it kinda looks like a typical horror shooter type video game but I like how there’s this catch when you die. Primarily, you play as a Survivor where you have to barricade walls/doors, loot objects to obtain ammo and shoot down zombies or Ghouls. If you die, you become this Ghoul who has to eat your friends and possibly infect them until none of them are left in the game. There’s something about Indie games that is alluring and this game is just showing that same vibe. Although you may get it as an early access in Steam, it is still on its youthful development and we may have to wait until this game matures enough to see its potential.

Installation 01

If you are a fan of Halo 3, then this is the game for you. This game, as described by its website, is a ‘fan made tribute to Halo 3′ which fans from all over the globe have been wanting. The intent of this game is to feature and to focus only on its multiplayer experience. Microsoft has given this game a thumbs up and has released its first official trailer. The game looks cool, the trailer looked really inviting and this game is actually showing a lot of promise.

Skull and Bones

This is an upcoming action adventure video game developed by Ubisoft to be released in the later part of 2018. The game revolves around piracy and naval combat. Sure, it looks a lot like AC IV: Black Flag but honestly tons of gamers enjoyed that game so who wouldn’t want to play as a Pirate Captain again? Well, I do. You may choose to play solo in its single campaign missions or rally with up to five players to ally or  to duel each other in disputed waters. In Co-Op mode, two Pirate Captains can help each other in gaining more riches in a treasure hunting challenge. Collect boats along the way to give variations to your ammunition or simply smash other ships with brute force to trample over them and rule the seven seas. Possibilities are actually quite endless since you get to decide your crew and your ship’s future.

Anthem

Set to be released on 2019 this video game is an online multiplayer action role playing game. You play as one of the Freelancers who explores the lush landscapes donning customizable advanced exosuits called Javalins. These suits provides your characters a wide selection of unique weaponry and superhuman capabilities. Teams can have four squad members at a time fighting off savage beasts and ruthless marauders while exploring lost ruins or experiencing the unique landscape this open world has to offer.

State of Decay 2

This is an upcoming horror survival video game and will be released to the public on May 22, 2018. This game is actually considered to be one of those highly anticipated games that was showcased on E3 2017 for Xbox. Definitely you can play this in offline mode but Multiplayer is the main focus of this video game with different types of game play. Trailer footage shows a lot of opportunities for your team to work with each other by fighting off hordes of zombies or just helping out in growing your community. Your decisions will either make or break the Family that you created. Different availability of weaponry that you are able to wield and different vehicle types that you will be able to utilize. This game also features an open world feel and the website also states that there is permanent death on this game and this makes sure that if you die as a Survivor, your character is gone for good. Now that’s a bummer.

So there you have it. What about you guys? Which co-op games are you looking forward to. Let us know in the comments!
