In history, Activision has been the license holder for most Spider-Man games, but it seems that Marvel Games wanted to have a publisher and its first-party studio to make the game. When Marvel Games went to Sony Interactive Entertainment to develop a new Spider-Man based game, we weren’t so sure which developer would make the cut to make the game. During the announcement at Sony’s E3 press conference in 2016, it was revealed that the Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive developer is the studio making the Spidey game, Insomniac Games.
Finally, Insomniac Games just announced the final release date of Spider-Man and that it’s not, in any way, going to the Xbox One platform in the future – it’s going to be the first Spider-Man game that will launch exclusively to one platform. Spider-Man is set to launch on September 7, 2018, and the community manager, James Stevenson, revealed some cool new details about the game’s collector’s and digital deluxe editions.
The Digital Deluxe edition, which will cost $79.99, will have post-launch DLC stories: The City That Never Sleeps. Insomniac Games has confirmed that there will be three new chapters with new missions, additional villains, new characters, and lots of new Spider-Man suits.
As for the Collector’s Edition, it’s going to be priced with an MSRP of $149.99. All contents you have for the Digital Deluxe edition is going to be made available for those who want to purchase the Collector’s Edition. It’s going to also have a steelbook case that will feature the iconic white spider, a mini artbook from Titan Books, and a statue made by Gentle Giant.
As we’re waiting for Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong Limited Singapore Branch (SIES) for an official retail price for the Philippines, we surely can’t wait for Spider-Man to launch this September.
Spider-Man is going to release on September 7, 2018, exclusively on the PS4.
