Etika Joy-Con Shells Production and Sales Stopped After Nintendo Issued Cease-and Desist

Nintendo has stopped the production and sales of the Etika Joy-Con Shells by content creator CptnAlex with proceeds supposed to be donated to a mental health and suicide prevention charity.

The custom Joy-con shells were created in honor of Desmond Etika Amofah, who unfortunately took his own life last year. Over $10,000 has been raised by the end of 2019 and its proceeds donated to the JED Foundation.

By December 7, 2020, Youtube channel JoyConBoyz uploaded a video titled Nintendo hates us. This is where CptnAlex revealed that Nintendo has sent him a cease-and-desist way back in September 2020. This was due to the custom shells that had the Joy-Con logo and phrase. JoyConBoyz also reported that the video he uploaded now had a copyright claim against it courtesy of Nintendo.

CptnAlex did state that he plans to bring back to Joy-Cons again but this time with design changes. Hopefully he can sell those now without any issues from Nintendo.
