Upgrading to New-Gen Version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is Complicated

Game publisher Activision has confirmed that video game remaster Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 soon, but the upgrade process is kind of complicated.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remaster

We might just have witnessed Control Ultimate Edition version 2.0.

According to the publisher, the game will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 21, while the Nintendo Switch version will be released sometime later this year. It offers 120fps at 1080p or 4K with 60fps. Now here comes the hard part: upgrading from the old-gen to the new-gen.

Activision says that players who have the digital deluxe edition of the game on PS4 or Xbox One can easily upgrade to the new-gen versions for free. Digital standard versions need the Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle, which has a fee of $10. What players get will be the upgraded versions of the game, extra content that can be used in-game like secret skaters, retro gear, and more.

Having the standard disc copy of the game will need players to download the digital edition PS5 version. They will need to have the disc stay inside the PS5 in order to play the game, but they will still need to download the full game. This is also the same for the Xbox One version standard disc copy to Xbox Series X/S versions.

Players can also transfer their saved game data from old gen to new gen easily. They only need to upload the save and download it on the new-gen console.

So here’s the complication: for digital, players need the Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle Edition with a fee of $10 while the Standard Physical Edition is for free (?). The physical edition needs clarification, we’ll update this when we get more information.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. PS5, Xbox Series X/S versions are coming March 2021, while the Nintendo Switch version sometime this year.
