Phil Spencer Officially Denies Xbox Game Pass Coming to Nintendo Switch Rumor

The Xbox app is only coming to platforms open to them.

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently talked with media outlet Gamesradar about getting the Xbox app to appear on many devices as possible, but the interviewer asked if it will ever come to another console, for example, the Nintendo Switch. He finally made clarifications in order to clear up any false information.

Spencer stated that Microsoft plans to bring the Xbox app to more devices, but that does not mean it would be on a closed platform. What he meant as a closed platform is another company’s console like the PlayStation 4 or the Nintendo Switch.

“We have no plans to bring it to any other kind of closed platforms right now, mainly because those closed platforms don’t want something like Game Pass,” Spencer clarified, finally denying the rumors about the Nintendo Switch getting the Xbox Game Pass. “There’s a ton of open platforms out there for us to grow in:  the web, PC, and mobile. So all of our focus, frankly, is on those platforms.”

So it is official now: Nintendo Switch is NOT getting the Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft is only interested in open platforms like mobile, PC, and the web.
