Star Wars Outlaws Planets Design Not Same as Starfield Method

Game developer Massive Entertainment has recently shared new details about Star Wars Outlaws planets designs.

Star Wars Outlaws is First Ever Open-World Star Wars Game

The developer and publisher Ubisoft proudly claimed last month during the Xbox and Ubisoft showcases that this is the first ever open-world Star Wars game. This started various speculations from the fans on how big and open this world or “universe” will be.

    Not Like Starfield

Creative Director Julian Gerighty confirmed in an interview with Edge Magazine that Star Wars Outlaws will not have procedurally generated planets, unlike Starfield. These planets will be hand-crafted and have the equivalent in size of two zones in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

“It’s a crude analogy, but the size of one planet might be about [equivalent to] two of the zones in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, for example,” he said. “It could be two to three zones. But it’s not, you know, this sort of epic ‘the whole of England recreated’ approach.”

Explore Planets But Has a Condition

Players can explore various areas in space like the near-orbit of each planet or moon. They can fly freely in that space and battle the Empire if they want or avoid them if they want. They will have to land at specific points and will not be able to fly freely above a planet’s surface.

    Freedom of Choice

The game’s open-world approach is defined by its freedom of choice. The demo shown at the Ubisoft showcase featured the protagonist deciding if she would bribe the Imperial officer or not. Players can also explore areas via combat or stealth. It is all up to the players’ choices.

“We’re really focusing on what ‘open world’ means to the player, which is full freedom of approach,” said Gerighty.

Star Wars Outlaws is still in development. It will be released next year for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
