Guerrilla has officially announced Horizon Hunters Gathering, a new cooperative action title set in the Horizon universe that focuses on team-based combat and machine hunting. The game introduces three-player co-op gameplay, marking a major shift for the franchise.
Horizon Hunters Gathering allows players to team up as elite Hunters, each equipped with distinct weapons, abilities, and playstyles built around either melee or ranged combat. Guerrilla says the game emphasizes tactical cooperation, with players reacting to machine behavior and coordinating attacks rather than relying on solo encounters.
Two gameplay modes have been revealed so far. Machine Incursion tasks teams with surviving escalating waves of machines emerging from underground gateways, while Cauldron Descent offers a multi-stage challenge that blends intense combat encounters with exploration and hidden objectives. Both modes are designed for replayability and cooperative strategy.
In addition to its action-focused modes, Horizon Hunters Gathering features a narrative component that introduces new characters and storylines within the Horizon world. Guerrilla confirmed the story is fully canon and will continue to evolve over time. Between missions, players can return to a central social hub—Hunters Gathering—where they can customize their loadouts, upgrade gear, and prepare for upcoming hunts.
The game will support cross-play and cross-progression between PlayStation 5 and PC, allowing players on different platforms to team up seamlessly. Guerrilla also plans to host a closed playtest later this month through the PlayStation Beta Program, with access available on both platforms.
Horizon Hunters Gathering represents a new direction for the Horizon franchise, expanding it beyond its single-player roots and into a shared, cooperative experience focused on teamwork and large-scale machine combat
