Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Developers Might Be Interested in Possible Sequel

Game developer Edelweiss recently talked about the success of their latest game Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin and the possibility of a sequel.

According to a new interview with the key members of Edelweiss, Koichi and Naru has expressed some interest in developing a sequel. They were happy with the results of the latest game they made and how fans loved it. They also clarified that there will be no downloadable content coming later.

Here are some of the statements given by Edelweiss translated by media outlet Siliconera:

    • “We received a lot of feedback that said it’s difficult to plant rice. Some staff members also suggested the same thing. But we didn’t want to implement a feature where you could plant them in a pretty way. We didn’t want rice planting to be a process done by simply pressing a button.”
    • “The thing we heard about the most from actual farmers concerned the lack of preparations for the field [such as flooding and tilling the soil]. The reason for that is because we couldn’t think of an idea to differentiate it from plowing the paddy.”
    • Koichi: “There are no plans for DLC. But we want to do a sequel if there is an opportunity.”
    • Naru: “We do not have a concrete plan for the sequel, but we can only say nothing but thanks to all our fans. We want to live up to expectations when the time comes.”

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is already available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
