Developer and publisher Survios has recently announced Alien Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition during San Diego Comic Con 2025. The game is an action focused first person shooter, in line with Aliens. (And reluctantly, Aliens: Colonial Marines). The game is not like Alien: Isolation as from what I’ve been told, stealth is nearly pointless here.
The story takes place between the first Alien movie and its sequel, Aliens. To be more specific, 6 or 7 years after Alien: Isolation, according to the developers.
As the Steam store page describes it:
"A new action-horror story set in the iconic Alien universe. Play as rogue Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks, sent to investigate a blacksite on Purdan. Fight and survive using your skill, reflexes, and determination against a deadly Xenomorph incursion in this gripping first chapter of a two-part saga."
Non-VR version of Alien Rogue Incursion
The original version of Alien Rogue Incursion launched across PlayStation VR2 and PCVR (via Steam) on December 19th, 2024, then Meta Quest 3 on February 13th, 2025. The main story is about 8 hours long on the default difficulty, though it is reported that the game drags in certain parts.
The game has a Mixed review rating on Steam. Issues with VR controls, gameplay issues, as well as performance issues were cited as primary reasons for their leaving negative reviews. Fans also did not like that the game failed to disclose clearly that it was only part 1 of a two-part adventure.
Full Statement is as follows:
To our valued community,
We have recently received a lot of feedback about the inclusion of “Part One” in Alien: Rogue Incursion’s opening moments, within the achievement/trophy list, and store pages.
Never did we intend to mislead or cause confusion about what this game is, and we now understand how the addition of “Part One” could be interpreted.
Part One is a standalone adventure which ends with a cliffhanger, and we wanted fans to know that there would be more on the horizon, so we decided to confirm Part Two alongside the launch. The entire team at Survios are fans of the Alien universe, and cannot wait to tell more stories about Zula, Davis, and others.
While we have nothing to announce about Part Two, beyond that it is actively in development, we promise to share more exciting updates at a later date.
We appreciate the excitement and passion you have shown towards Alien: Rogue Incursion, and hope that you enjoy exploring Purdan and Castor’s Cradle as much as we enjoyed creating it.
In an interview with IGN, the developers stated that the transition from VR to conventional screens enabled them to tell a story that would have been impossible in VR, as the VR player would have found it uncomfortable to suddenly lose their bearings whenever the camera cut away to another scene.
The change also allowed the team to tweak Xenomorph movements in such a way that the critters can have sudden movements. Something that can cause discomfort with VR audiences.
On the technical side, it allows for a higher level of fidelity that’s simply not possible with current VR technology since each screen is rendered twice for each eye, including running at 60 FPS.

Concerns
Fans are concerned that the game will not translate well outside VR. The whole selling point was being immersed as someone trapped in a facility with Xenomorphs crawling through vents and clawing the walls. They are afraid that the watered down experience will result in another generic shooter experience. A tough low bar to clear considering that Aliens: Colonial Marines exists.
Most of all, some fans are expressing regret over purchasing an unfinished product only for the developers to prioritize a non-VR version of the title over production of part 2.
Alien: Rogue Incursion Part 2 is in active development. No release date has been announced yet.
