A New Beginning is the second mission in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which takes place two months after the final scenes of The Master Thief of Anbar and teaches players the core combat mechanics of the game. Inspired by the villain from Valhalla, players get to see the training of Basim Ibn Ishaq in Alamut, offering insight into his journey as a new recruit of the Hidden Ones.
Read ahead as we go through the events of the mission “A New Beginning” in Assassin’s Creed Mirage and share some tips needed to complete every objective along the way.

A New Beginning Walkthrough
The mission begins with Basim quickly rising above the water as he envisions The Jinni that he often confronts in his nightmare. Once you gain control of your character, swim back to shore, and you’ll find yourself on the outskirts of Alamut. Now, simply follow the quest marker pointing northeast so Basim can return to training with Roshan.
You’ll trigger a short cutscene as you arrive at the location, which shows Roshan becoming Basim’s mentor and telling him to get dressed for his next assignment.
Practice the “Leap of Faith”
Like Basim practiced, start by climbing the wall in front of you using the wooden handholds. Follow the route all the way up to the left until you reach a platform where a n NPC is sitting on the ledge.
From the top, walk in the plank to your left in order to perform the Leap of Faith. To do this, move forward, then hold [A on Xbox | X on PS | Space on PC] and Basim will jump off the plank, eventually landing on a haystack below.
After that, Roshan will assess your performance and orient you on the history and significance of the Leap of Faith as you follow her into the camp.
Find Fuladh
Once you arrive at the camp, you’ll be tasked with finding Fuladh, but the quest marker won’t automatically show. To complete this objective, explore the area and ask NPCs with dialogue icons for Fuladh’s location. You’ll eventually be informed that he’s seen speaking to Ahmad near his office. Simply follow the quest marker that will show up afterwards to find Fuladh and witness a short cutscene.
Gather Leather Strips for Rebekah
Following your conversation with Fuladh, you’ll be tasked with fetching leather strips for Rebekah. Following the quest marker will lead you to the store-room. Once you get inside, veer to your right and collect the strip of leather from the table next to some folded cloth. Doing so will trigger a short cutscene, which shows Basim eavesdropping on two assassins as they walk by.
Now, follow the updated quest marker to Rebekah’s workshop, where she is crafting weapons, and hand over the leather strips. You will then be given your first weapons in-game, the Initiate of Alamut Dagger and Sword, and unlock the Throwing Knife tool feature.
Go to the Training Ground
On your way to the training ground, there is an optional tutorial available for those who want to polish their knife-throwing skills before proceeding with the main objective. Talk to the NPC with an orange dialogue, and he’ll teach you the controls on how to equip and use a throwing knife.
To get to the training grounds, traverse the log near the waterfalls, then climb the rock wall using the wooden handholds going left. As you reach the lift, use it by pressing [A on Xbox, X on PC, Space on PC] to reach higher ground. After this, continue platforming the linear path to your left, and you’ll eventually reach the training grounds. Walk up further ahead to trigger a cutscene.
Training with Roshan
Training with Roshan introduces players to the core combat mechanics for fighting enemies. She’ll teach you five basic moves while holding a weapon, and you’ll have to execute them properly to proceed with the objectives.
- Lock onto your targeted opponent [RS on Xbox | R3 on PS]
- Perform Light Attacks 3 times [RB on Xbox | R1 on PS]
- Perform Heavy Attacks 3 times [Hold RB on Xbox | Hold R1 on PS]
- Parry Roshan’s Attack 3 times, This replenishes stamina and allow for an opportunity to attack. [LB on Xbox | L1 on PS]
- Timely dodge Roshan’s attacks 3 times. When Roshan turns red, this is your queue to press dodge. [X on Xbox | Square on PS]
After learning all the basics, you’ll need to spar with Roshan. This time, combine every move you learned from her. The goal is to not get hit and deplete Roshan’s lifebar as fast as possible. Make sure to dodge properly while keeping your stamina in check by parrying. Mix every move and balance everything out until you trigger a cutscene where Roshan evaluates your skills and gives Basim key pieces of advice for becoming a full-fledged assassin.
Join Nur for Camp Patrol
After the long cutscene, you’ll volunteer to accompany and patrol the fortress with Nur. Since it’s dark out, take out your torch in the tool menu by pressing [RT on Xbox, R2 on PS], then selecting Torch. He’ll lead you down to the camp as he coordinates patrol routes with another Hidden One.
Afterwards, follow the mission marker, leading a path up ahead into the nearby watchpoint. Once you reach the location, this will trigger a cutscene showing Nur’s eagle fly down the outskirts after seeing something.
Kill the Baghdad Mercenaries
Following the cutscene, descend using the zipline and proceed along the path ahead, keep it low and silently follow Nur. You’ll then see two enemies searching for something on the ground.
Get down from the rocks to the patch of tall grass below you. When you reach the grass, crouch to avoid detection and sneak up on the enemy to your left. Once the prompt shows up, quickly take him out, and Nur will dispatch the other enemy on the right.
Follow along the river path ahead to find another batch of enemies. Position yourself on the tall grass to the right and perform a whistle to lure the first enemy in front. Take him out as soon as the prompt shows up.
Afterwards, move up a bit further ahead and crouch on top of the rock with tall grass where two enemies are standing guard. From here, take out your throwing knife, aim at the enemy further ahead who’s carrying a torch, and kill him. Immediately after, jump down on the enemy below you to knock him out, and Nur will follow suit.
This leaves two more enemies to deal with. Wrap up the battle with a sequence of light or heavy attacks while parrying to regain energy and dodging effectively when they attack. Once you’ve killed off all the mercenaries, a long cutscene will follow and automatically complete the “A New Beginning” mission in Assassin’s Creed Mirage afterwards.
