Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and Team Asobi, formed from the now-closed SIE Japan Studio, have revealed during the recent State of Play a brand-new Astro Bot game. Its successful debut as a free game, Astro’s Playroom, for the PlayStation 5 has doubled its fanbase, and this time, Team Asobi will bring Astro into the limelight once again.

Nicolas Doucet, the Studio Director over at Team Asobi, shared a ton of juicy details about their upcoming Astro Bot game on the official PlayStation Blog. “Since making an appearance at the launch of PlayStation 5, Astro has introduced many players to the magic of PlayStation,” Doucet wrote. “We received a ton of heart-warming comments about how much fun the game was, how it utilized the DualSense wireless controller in fun ways and how it paid tribute to 25 years of PlayStation history. From the bottom of our robotic hearts, thank you very much for all your support!”

Doucet also shared there will be 6 galaxies to explore and about “over 80 levels” in a mission to find Astro’s lost crew. Each planet will feature tons of distinct environments from lush forests to hot volcanoes, giving players new places to explore. What’s even more exciting is that there will be over 70 new types of enemies, including huge bosses at the end of each galaxy as seen in its reveal trailer.

Doucet also teased that there may be characters from PlayStation Studios games that may play a “bigger” in your adventures with Astro.

Astro Bot will launch exclusively on the PS5 this September 6, 2024.
