Baldur’s Gate 3 Becomes Second Biggest Steam Launch in 2023

It's concurrent peak player count is now half of Hogwarts Legacy.

It has been reported that the newly released RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 is now the second biggest Steam launch of 2023.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Achieves Milestone Right Off the Bat

Independent Steam tracker SteamDB has revealed that as of Thursday, August 3, 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 got a peak concurrent player count of 427,000. This is half of 2023’s biggest Steam release to date, Hogwarts Legacy, which has a peak concurrent player count of 879,308 during its launch period.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is developed by Larian Studios, who previously worked on Path of Exile 2. The game can be played in single or multiplayer with a promise of a rich narrative with unparalleled player freedom, high-stakes decisions, unique companion characters, and memorable combat.

Save-Preventing Issue

Aside from the new milestone, Baldur’s Gate 3 has reportedly been betting an issue that prevents players from saving the game. Larian has recently shared some solutions to the potential issues that may emerge. It was suggested that the Windows Defender could have caused the issues and needed to shut down and all other non-essential programs before reopening the game.

It was also suggested that the game’s cloud sync has caused the issues. Players would have to remove a certain folder and restart the game without enabling the cloud sync again.

Larian did say that it will make permanent solutions in the future.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now on PC, will be released on PS5 next month, and the Xbox version will be available sometime next year.
