Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Respond to Death Threats After Delay Announcement

Cyberpunk 2077

After the depressing news of the most anticipated video game Cyberpunk 2077 getting delayed, CD Projekt RED addressed the public recently to talk about the death threats they have gotten.

Senior Game Designer Andrzej Zawadzki took to Twitter recently after some of their team members received death threats after the news. The developer reminded the angry fans that this was not acceptable behavior.

“I want to address one thing in regards of the @CyberpunkGame delay,” started Zawadzki. “I understand you’re feeling angry, disappointed and want to voice your opinion about it. However, sending death threats to the developers is absolutely unacceptable and just wrong. We are people, just like you.”

This was not just about the delay though. It was about the “lie” that many believed CDPR told to a certain Twitter user last October 26. The user asked if there were no further delays with the release and the staff member who handles social media replied that there will be no further delay. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding and it just escalated.

Staff member Fabian Mario Dohla explained to the public that the social media manager would not have known about the delay because not everyone knows about the updates even the team. Only a few people need to know about it due to legal reasons. According to Dohla, CP Twitter did not lie on purpose.

I know that the announcement of another delay was frustrating, but death threats should not be done to anyone especially for those who have explained the situation clearly. We can voice our opinions but not to the point that you would threaten people.

Cyberpunk 2077 will now launch on December 10 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia, and PC. That is if there are no more delays.
