According to the official website, this is the free trial of the game aka a game demo. It will offer players a chance to play the game and check out Night City. This will now have updated version of the game for the next-gen consoles. Of course, it will only be playable for a limited time only.
To gain access to this free trial, players only need to download it on the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The perks they can enjoy with this freebie are all of the updates in Patch 1.5, the next-gen-specific features, the DLCs, and more.
Players who are unsure of purchasing the game and just want to see how it plays on their console, they can just download this and play. If they do not like it, just delete it afterwards, but otherwise, they can opt for buying the full game.
How does the Cyberpunk 2077 Free Trial for Next-Gen Work?
Download the free trial on the PlayStation or Xbox store on their respective next-gen consoles. Download and install it on the console, and play it right away. Players are only limited to play this free trial for only 5 hours. The best part: players have full control on where they can go or what they can do in it.
After the 5-hour trial ends, the demo will ask players to buy the full game or just delete it afterwards. For those who purchase it though, they can have their save progress carried over to the full game and continue their adventures there.
To clarify though, the free net-gen trial version of the game will be available only on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It will not be available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Also, in Germany, the price for 18+ rated game trials cannot be offered for free due to regional regulations. Players need to be PlayStation Plus subscribers to gain access to the trial.
