Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Joins Upcoming Big Event

Will the real Idris Elba show up to? Who knows but that'd be awesome.

A new announcement confirms that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be joining a most anticipated event this year.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Joins Summer Game Fest

CD Projekt RED’s popular and at the same time controversial video game has announced its upcoming DLC expansion, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. There has been no news about it after a few announcements and short trailers. In fact, the only new information the fans know about is this year’s launch window, and more info will be revealed next month. Interestingly, next month is when the next big event is happening: Summer Game Fest.

CDPR Confirms Presence But Offers No Details

According to the Twitter account of CD Projekt IR, the upcoming expansion Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be present at the Summer Game Fest: Play Days. The account did not elaborate on what CDPR is going to show, but this will definitely showcase gameplay. The image attached to the post shows Idris Elba in full form in his in-game character. This hints that most of the resources for the game might already be completed by the developers and could be gearing up for an official launch very soon.

Behind Closed Doors

If CDPR will not be showing full gameplay footage in public during Summer Game Fest, at least the media would be getting hands-on with the expansion behind-closed-doors, at that time. Either way, since the studio has promised to show new details about the upcoming expansion, they will have to deliver during the big showcase.

Lesson Learned

The studio has been silent for a long time now since its last announcement of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty so it is kind of worrying that they have not shown anything big about it yet. Perhaps, the developers have learned their lesson from their failure during the launch of the base game three years ago. Hopefully, they are now making sure everything is working properly when the expansion comes out and no game-breaking bugs are going to appear on launch.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty launches later this year for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions cannot get this expansion.
