CD Projekt RED has recently showcased Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 gameplay overhauls via the “New Ways to Play” trailer at this year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 Details

CDPR Gameplay Designer Yuliia Pryimak joined host Geoff Keighley onstage to talk about the premiere of the game’s new trailer. It included a compilation of new gameplay features that will be coming with Phantom Liberty and for free with Update 2.0.

    New Relic Skill Tree

The new clip showed the exclusive features coming to the spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty which includes the Relic skill tree. The new skill tree offers a wide range of powerful abilities that allow players to master new playstyles and create unique, meaningful builds. The expansion also adds a densely packed new location called Dogtown. It has endless dynamic events and missions, action-packed gigs, new clothing items, weapons, cyberware, and more.

    New Ways to Play Trailer

The “New Ways to Play” trailer also highlighted the game’s redesigned perks system, which shows some of the brand-new perks that offer players more impactful gameplay options and the ability to take down enemies in thrilling, original ways. Enemy AI in combat has been improved, making fights more dynamic and intuitive.

Police AI and Vehicle Combat Added

Another major change shown in the trailer is the new police system. Police AI got improved, meaning the NCPD will respond to player actions in more realistic and engaging ways. They will now set up roadblocks, attempting to ram players off the road, and more. Vehicle combat is now available, which allows players to shoot while driving and quickhack enemy vehicles from cars and motorbikes.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty launches on September 26, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The redesigned skill trees, overhauled police system, and vehicle combat will all be available for free as part of Update 2.0 for the main game on all platforms.
