Disney Dreamlight Valley: Something Comes A’Knocking Quest Guide

This guide provides a simple walkthrough of all the objectives for the Something Comes A’Knocking Quest, including how to bring Jack Skellington back into Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Something Comes A’Knocking Quest Guide

Something Comes A’Knocking is a mysterious quest added along with The Pumpkin King Returns update in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and completing it will eventually unlock the beloved character from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack Skellington, into your valley.

There aren’t much details explaining how you can solve the quest in the game, and you’re only left with vague hints to begin with, but don’t fret. Here’s what you need to do to complete Something Comes A’Knocking and unlock Jack Skellington in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to unlock the Something Comes A’Knocking quest

To unlock and start the Something Comes A’Knocking quest, players need to find a Matryoshka Doll. I’ve found my first doll in The Plaza, but this is not a guarantee for all players since it’s a quest item that spawns in a random spot around each and every Dreamlight Valley biome. Once you pick up one Matryoshka Doll, the Something Comes A’Knocking quest will automatically start.

Keep in mind that Matryoshka Dolls may not spawn if you haven’t progressed through a certain point in the game’s lore. In our case, we were able to get the dolls to show up after completing a few quests with The Fairy Godmother and reaching at least friendship level 2.

Upon starting the quest, you will unlock a dialogue from Merlin that hints at the next objective. Merlin will inform you that someone is attempting to manifest in the valley but is experiencing difficulties, and you must go to the Forgotten Lands to survey the disturbance indicated by his instrument.

Look for a pumpkin-carved tree in Forgotten lands

In the Forgotten Lands, search for a tall brown tree with no leaves and a pumpkin carved in its bark. Fans may recognize this as a reference to the Holiday Doors from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Once you find the Halloween tree, interact with it, and transfer the Matryoshka doll from your inventory into the item slot. After that, you’ll see the carved pumpkin gradually getting its original color back. This indicates that once you place enough dolls in it, the holiday door will open up and free up the anomaly that’s trying to manifest.

Locate all 4 Matryoshka Dolls

There are four Matryoshka dolls in total. Minus the one we picked up earlier, you only need to look for three more. In our case, we found each doll at the corresponding biome: Peaceful Meadow, Forest of Valor, and Sunlit Plateau. As mentioned above, these dolls appear at random spots, so it’s recommended to look for them on each and every biome you have unlocked.

Once you have collected all the Matryoshka dolls, place all of them into the Halloween tree (in any order) at Forgotten Lands, and you will eventually unlock Jack Skellington.

Welcome Jack Skellington into your Valley

To wrap things up, talk to Jack Skellington and find an area anywhere around dreamlight valley to build his home, which will cost 5,000 star coins. Once done, speak with Jack once more to complete the quest.
