FNaF World got removed from Steam

FNAF World launched on Steam early last week and surprised everyone (well.. not really). The developer Scott Cawthon posted an apology on the Steam forums due to a lot of complains he got about the game:

    “Hi everyone.

This isn’t exactly an announcement that I’m enjoying writing, but it’s one that I feel I owe to the community.

You know, I’ve been accused of rushing my games ever since FNaF 1, but I’ve never felt that I’d released a game too early… until now.

There are a lot of features that this game should have had before release, features that I was told about, but ignored and didn’t implement. Features such as being able to see what abilities do during battle, or being able to see a stats page for your characters. These are features that any good RPG would have.

I got too eager to show the things that were finished, that I neglected to pay attention to the things that weren’t.

I’m going to fix this, and I’ll be updating the game with these features in the coming weeks.

So I say this to a community that I’ve enjoyed and respected for over a year and a half now- I’m sorry. I will continue to add features to the game and make it right.

    UPDATE:
Here is a list of the features added to the game since the time of this post, and there will be more to come.

-Overworld map (press and hold TAB)
    -Attack command descriptions
-Byte descriptions (when in Byte store)
-Chip descriptions in the Chips menu“

Today, the game has been removed from Steam. Scott Cawthon said that he wasn’t too happy with the feedback he got and decided to give out refunds for players who bought the game:

“Hi everyone, I wanted to make a post about the fate of FNaF World. Even though the game had a “Very Positive” rating with 87%, I was not satisfied with the reviews and ratings it was getting.

For that reason, I’ve decided to remove the game from Steam. I’ve also asked Valve to make it so that the game can be refunded regardless of the amount of the time it has been owned, meaning that anyone can get a refund at any time. It may take them a while to set that up, but it will be in place soon.

I’m still going to work on FNaF World and polish it up. I’m busy creating a fully 3D overworld for the game. When I’m ready to update the game, I will replace the demo currently on GameJolt with the full game. From this point forward, the game will always be free.

I appreciate your support, and I encourage you all to refund your Steam game (even if you enjoyed the game), and download the new version when it becomes available on GameJolt. 🙂“
