Freedom Wars Has finally been remastered for the next-gen consoles and with its return, many players such as myself are getting hyped again on how great the gameplay is and all. But what makes this game better than its original release? This review will give our full and honest insight into the remastered version of Freedom Wars.
Freedom Wars Remastered takes place in an apocalyptic future where Earth’s resources have greatly diminished, leaving a few humans to live in the ruins of the old world. Due to these harsh situations, authoritarian regimes control cities and convict and sentence anyone even remotely accused of a crime. Because of this, nearly everyone is born into this society with a 1 million-year prison sentence and is called Sinners. To gain freedom, you must fight with whatever resources your Panopticon has and survive. The story of the game is quite compelling and fitting as it gives a more elaborate idea of the conditions of the game. With every detail and mission one can explore, the plot and climax are quite easy to understand.
In terms of localization, the game is still the same as the original. However, the remaster offers an English dub. There are pretty awesome scenes especially being acted out in English.
Freedom Wars is a hunting-action game similar to Monster Hunter and God Eater. With various missions and quests, players must take down large creatures and collect their resources to build up gears, weapons, and more. With quite a selection of weaponry a player choose from, the freedom to become a hardcore monster killer will be undisputed. There is one unique feature that I enjoyed in the game and that is the crafting system. Believe it or not, this feature has saved me multiple times to further boost my stats and my survival right against countless challenges. However, it gets very confusing as countless menus in this game are very hard to navigate and it has given quite a headache.
As stated, there are multiple weapons that players can choose from. But what can be considered a great asset is weapon customization. When reaching Class 4 or higher, monsters will become more aggressive and the time limit will be shortened further. Adding elements and accessory buffs to a weapon will make it powerful enough to endure hardships in the game. Learning how to master the customization may look hard but it is quite easy to understand. The only part which I struggle through is navigating the menu and this part bothers me.
The maps within the game are pretty unique and may look repetitive considering that this is a remastered game. Despite that, the areas are easy to observe as there are places where I can use whip swings to ambush enemies and get to objectives very fast. I even love how they rendered the game to make it more appealing to those who are adjusting to next-gen consoles.
The one issue I want to address in this game is that the loading time is surprisingly lengthy. When starting the quest, there is a loading time that will be seen on the screen. Usually, it takes at least a minute or less to load on how high graphic consoles such as an advanced gaming PC or on the PlayStation 5, but for some reason, it would take at least 3 to 5 minutes to load and I fear there is a problem with the game’s engine. Another issue I want to tackle is the tutorial of the game. For those who are new to this game, it might cause a ton of confusion and it will be hard for players to understand the full mechanics of the game, especially with the Rights System.
To sum it up, Freedom Wars Remastered is a good game to play. The only thing I wished for in this game is that they need to refurbish their menu features and fix the loading times. Plus, when completing the main story campaign, players can enjoy the freedom to play online with other players and hope the community that made this popular will rise once more.
To sum it up, Freedom Wars Remastered is a good game to play. Despite having some issues, the game gives a credible reason to restart its online community and hope that there will be a sequel to it soon for the next gen-consoles.
