Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Jim Ryan has announced that PlayStation 5 exclusive Gran Turismo 7 will be delayed.
GT7, the next racing game for the PS5, has its release pushed back to 2022. SIE’s reason is the global pandemic and it has impacted the development, which made its development team miss the original 2021 target.
Ryan shared this announcement in an exclusively interview with media outlet GQ. Here’s his statement:
GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.
It has been known that game studio Polyphony Digital has delayed some of its titles in the past so GT7’s delay is not surprising.
Gran Turismo 7 will launch exclusively on PS5 in 2022.
