Grand Theft Auto 6 Report Claims New Protagonist, Release Window and More

A Bonnie and Clyde pair up, original plans for setting, and more!

A new report claims to have new information about upcoming video game Grand Theft Auto 6 including the new protagonist.

Grand Theft Auto 6 New Report

New information about upcoming video game GTA6 was recently revealed by media outlet Bloomberg in a new report. Note that Rocksteady Games has not confirmed nor denied these claims yet, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

Bonnie and Clyde Feel

It has been claimed that this upcoming GTA entry will be quite different from previous titles of the franchise. One of its glaring changes is its protagonist as it will now feature a female main character for the first time. She will be a Latina and will be one of a pair of leading characters with a story inspired by the bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde.

Possible Release Window

Some analysts expect the next GTA game will be launching sometime in Take-Two’s 2024 fiscal year, which could be from April 2023 to March 2024. The game has been in development since in 2014 so it could take more. Some people who got interviewed by Bloomberg say that they do not know of any firm release date for the game and expect it to be released at least two years later.

Plans Were Big But Got Reeled In

There have been plans to include a big chunk of North and South America as the setting for GTA6, but it seems they were asked to limit it. It was even code-named Project Americas because they had big plans for the sequel.

The setting now is a fictional version of Miami and the surrounding areas, but it will be updated over time. It could add more locations and missions so it could blow up to a whole new large map.
