With only a few days left till the release of Gundam Breaker 4, Bandai has decided to release a new tutorial video of the game to further hype the launch. This video has brought out so much hype that it makes me want to build more Gunpla soon.

This special video marks the launch of the game as it introduces the full mechanics of how to obtain Gunpla parts. Players must complete missions, fight countless hordes of various mobile suits, and freely customize their own Gunpla. Not only that, but the video also recommends players to not only customize their Gunpla in the game but also in real life.

With the skills players can obtain through the game, they can start making their own Gunpla in real life and display it in ways they could have never imagined.

Basic Combat Features of Gundam Breaker 4

In Gundam Breaker 4, players will be playing a new protagonist who will be placed 6 years after the events of Gundam Breaker 3. Since Gunpla Battles are very popular, it is now accessible to everyone from their own homes. But not a lot has changed as the battle mechanics and basic features have changed greatly.

Melee Attack

Each Gunpla has a melee weapon equipped in each hand. You can hold different weapons in each hand, and attacks will be activated according to the type of weapon. You can also chain attacks by launching melee attacks with each hand. The key point is that the action changes depending on the order in which you activate them.

Ranged Attack

As there are melee weapons, there are also long-range weapons as well. You can equip different parts to each hand for long-range weapons the number of hit combos increases as you continue to attack enemies, and once you reach a certain number, you can defeat enemies more easily. However, if you don’t attack for a certain period, this hit combo will be reset. This is where long-range attacks come in handy.

Option/ OP Skills

OP skills are displayed in the bottom right of the screen. This feature can be activated differently depending on the parts equipped. They also have a cooldown time. Once activated, a certain amount of time is required before they can be used again.

Extreme/ EX Skills

EX skills can be activated by consuming the EX gauge. The EX gauge fills up through weapon attacks and defeating enemies, and the amount of EX gauge used varies depending on the skill. They have a variety of effects, such as dealing large damage to enemies or recovering your own health. It is important to judge the timing of use and activate them effectively. Also, if the gauge is full, it is possible to perform continuous techniques.

Guard Step/ Emergency Descent

There are also several ways to avoid enemy attacks. Guarding can reduce damage by preparing a shield. However, if you continue guarding, the shield will be blown away. You will not be able to guard again until the shield returns.

To prevent more damage, players can avoid attacks using steps. They can be activated by consuming the thruster gauge displayed in the center of the screen.

Customization Feature of Gundam Breaker 4

In the game menu, there is something called Assemble. Players can freely customize their Gunpla and switch various parts. The parts that can be switched are:

  • Head
  • Body
  • Right Arm
  • Left arm
  • Legs
  • Backpacks
  • Ranged Weapons (Right and Left Hand)
  • Melee Weapons (Right and Left Hand)
  • Shield

There are 11 types of parts, plus Builders Parts that can be added to various places. In addition to clearing missions, parts can also be increased by purchasing them from the shop in the lobby. Each part has its own stats that affect battles, such as attack power and beam resistance. Also, parts that look the same have different rarities, and the higher the rarity, the more abilities they have.

Additionally, the OP and EX skills that can be used vary depending on the parts equipped. Some parts have no skills, so combinations become important.

After completing your own Gunpla, you might want to make a diorama. You can create your scene by rearranging the poses and backgrounds. You can also increase the number of units placed in the diorama. Once you’ve captured your best shot of your diorama, you can publish it in an online gallery to share with others. But don’t forget, coloring Gunplas are important as well so make sure to make them nice and detailed enough for fans to build normally.

Gundam Breaker 4 will be released on August 29, 2024, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam). Players can pre-order the game digitally as it comes in standard, deluxe, and even ultimate editions.
