For the first time in the franchise’s history, Halo is officially heading to PlayStation. Microsoft and 343 Industries have announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2026.
As reported by Game Informer, the project re-creates the 2001 classic from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, rebuilding every cinematic and line of dialogue with newly recorded performances. The story once again follows Master Chief and Cortana as they battle the Covenant on the mysterious ringworld Halo — but this remake adds fresh content that expands on the original campaign.
343 Industries says Halo: Campaign Evolved will feature three brand-new missions set before the events of Combat Evolved, focusing on Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. These additions aim to bridge the narrative between the fall of Reach and the start of Halo’s story.

The remake also restores a major fan request: split-screen co-op. Players can complete the campaign together locally or team up online through four-player co-op with full cross-play and cross-progression across PS5, Xbox, and PC.
While 343 Industries has not revealed a release date, the studio confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved is a stand-alone title, not part of The Master Chief Collection.
This announcement marks a historic first for the franchise — a mainline Halo campaign launching on a PlayStation console. It follows Microsoft’s growing cross-platform strategy, which has already seen select Xbox franchises appear on rival hardware.
Halo: Campaign Evolved will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2026.
