Skydance New Media just unveiled its upcoming Marvel game produced and written by the Uncharted series’ creator, Amy Hennig. The new action-adventure narrative-driven Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra puts both Captain America and Black Panther during World War II. It’s also been revealed that there are four playable characters, including both Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Azzuri (Black Panther, T’Challa’s grandfather), plus Gabriel Jones and Nanali.

Revealed at GDC 2024, 1943: Rise of Hydra is running on Unreal Engine 5.4, alongside Epic and Skydance New Media’s collaboration to bring state-of-the-art visuals to the game. Check the full story trailer below.

1943: Rise of Hydra was initially teased during the D23 Expo in the Disney & Marvel Gams Showcase, and the game was described as an ‘ensemble game.’ With Amy Hennig producing, players can expect a story-rich title and possibly a linear single-player game experience. Hennig has been known for her work on Uncharted and Jak 3 when she was working for Naughty Dog.

Marvel’s 1943: Rise of Hydra is expected to launch in 2025.
