Max Payne Remakes Are ‘A Big, Big Project’

Sam Lake teases on reprising his role as Max from the first game.

Remedy has revealed that the upcoming Max Payne remakes are ‘a big, big project’ it is undertaking.

Creative Director Same Lake recently spoke with VGC in an interview to talk about the upcoming Max Payne remakes. He was asked if the initial announcement suggested it was going to be a significant project.

Lake confirmed that the project is indeed a large one with a lot of work involved.

“It is a significant undertaking in the sense that even if they are old games, just thinking about bringing them up to modern standards and combining them into one, you can see that it’s a big, big project,” he explained.

Lake was asked if he was going to reprise his role as Max from the first game, he laughed.

“No comment!” he replied. “That’s going too far.”

Last year in April, Remedy announced that it was starting its development on the remakes of the first two Max Payne titles. Both will be sold together as a single package and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. They will be using Remedy’s Northlight game engine, which was used in Control and Quantum Break.
