NBA 2K24 Trophy Guide & How to Get Platinum

NBA 2K24 is already shaping up to be one of the most streamlined entries in recent memory. All the recent changes to the game aim to allow players to play as they want to and still progress with the Season Pass. Gone are the days when you’re forced to play in only one game mode in order to progress. Now, you can hop on your favorite mode and not worry if you’ve done enough to make a dent in the season pass. (Or you can just pay extra money to unlock all levels.)

But perhaps the most notable addition is this year’s challenge mode centering around the best moments from the late, great Kobe Bryant’s career. Reliving the highlights of the Black Mamba with accurate historical scoreboards and commentary was definitely enjoyable.

Please note that I will be going through the trophy list for NBA 2K24 on PS5. The list on the PS4 version is virtually the same as NBA 2K23 with some minor tweaks.

There are 46 trophies up for grabs in NBA 2K24:

    • 1 Platinum trophy
    • 3 Gold trophies
    • 10 Silver trophies

    • The Rest Is Just Academic: Take a 10 point lead into halftime
    • Keep Your Distance: Make 10 three-point shots in any one game
    • Net Gain: Turn the ball over 10 fewer times than your opponent

You have to remember that actually getting the Platinum trophy for a recent NBA 2K game is a long process. You are not expected to get close to platinum within the first couple of seasons. There are certain trophies that require certain tiered cards but getting access to a large pool of them will take some time. But more than that, unless you’re playing the game on a near-daily basis, you’re going to be rich in VC to be able to get the chance at some of the trophies.

Let’s start with the Super Shiny Gold trophy. You get this one from gathering a 13-man lineup will all Holo Cards. This can be done in MyTeam and then playing a game of Domination. Holo cards are hard enough to get when they are available. It’s going to be dedication (or deep pockets) to build a team as quickly as possible.

Setting records and getting the Record Breaker Gold trophies requires you to have a player with “Mamba Mentality”. You’re expected to get the highest-scoring game, the most rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, or 3-points made over the span of your MyCareer. It’s not going to be easy especially if you just building up your stats and playing 82-game seasons, minus the playoffs. (Thank goodness for simulated games.)

If you manage to do that, you’ll have a shot at becoming the Greatest of All Time and unlocking The G.O.A.T. Gold trophy. This one might require unlocking Billy the Kid, MVP of MVPs, and Seven Rings to Rule Them All Silver trophies all with one MyPlayer while moving the G.O.A.T. tier list. The good news is that this is totally achievable with an 85-average player, not easily done but achievable.

The Thunderstruck Silver trophy is another interesting one. It requires you to beat a team in Domination by 73 points. I suggest getting a Kareem Abdul-Jabar card and sky hook your way to dominance. That’s the fun option. But really, you don’t really need much. The AI for the current roster teams is pretty lax, especially for teams you know you can beat consistently.

When going for the Collector Bronze trophy, don’t forget to go to your collection and lock the card to your collection. The change won’t go into effect until the whole page’s appearance changes. I don’t why this is a thing but that’s how NBA2K wants you to do it.

Mamba Moments is the main attraction for the game. The mode recreates 7 defining games in Kobe’s career. There are 2 trophies associated with the mode. The Mini Mamba and Full Mamba trophies. You only need one trophy to unlock the next game on the list. This usually means winning the game. You can save the other challenges until you unlock all of the moments.

Salary Cap is a new game mode and has the Cap Space Bronze trophy tied to it. In this game mode, all the cards have a salary to them. You have to build the best roster to the best of your abilities while going under the salary cap. The game itself a very different from a regular game of basketball. The first half of the game is you trying to build a lead. The second half is a race to 24 with no time limits. The overall winner is the player who had the better performance from both halves.

The Jigsaw Silver trophy sees you completing a Shattered Prize. The dev team describes the process of rebuilding the card as someone putting all the pieces together. You need to search the different game modes and complete challenges in order to get the pieces necessary to rebuild the card.

And that’s about all the notable trophies you can expect to encounter in the game. The rest can be achieved just by playing game modes or doing well in regular games. And as a final note, Diamond cards like the ones for shoes do appear every so often, more so if you play on the daily. And that’s what this game wants you to do. Play regularly.

NBA 2K24 is available right now on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam).
