Nintendo Not Interested in Buying Studios Like Microsoft and Sony

Not interested in acquiring studios who don't posses Nintendo DNA.

While Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft are so busy with acquisition of studios left and right, it seems the third major power in the gaming industry is not that interested in following at all.

Nintendo was asked by investors today via Bloomber [Paywall] about their plans if they have planned to purchase other studios as well. The game company easily denied this and shared their own comment of the situation.

“Our brand was built upon products crafted with dedication by our employees, and having a large number of people who don’t posses Nintendo DNA in our group would not be a plus to the company,” Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa told the investors. So, that is their stance as of now.

In previous times, Nintendo has only acquired a few external studios and not at such speeds like Microsoft and SIE are doing right now. They like to take their time and make sure they can be compatible with Nintendo and their standards.

Nintendo thinks they can stand on their own and not depend on others at all. If there are willing studios who want to join, sure, but the game company will not be gaining tons of them in such speeds. It seems they are going for quality rather than quantity.
