No Man’s Sky: How to Get Settlements and How Many Can You Own

As part of the newest update for the popular video game No Man’s Sky, update version 3.6 called Frontiers introduces the ability to own and oversee a settlement filled with NPCs. You will be able to add buildings, defend them from Sentinels, and make crucial decisions that will affect the lives of the inhabitants. This No Man’s Sky guide will assist you in getting your first settlement and how many you can oversee.

How Can You Get Your First No Man’s Sky Settlement?

Players who already have a save of No Man’s Sky can make things easier for them. They can just go to their ship and then head into outer space to get this emergency broadcast that will send coordinates to where to go. If you are one of those who are playing the game for the first time, you will have to keep following the tutorials first and after going to space, they will get the same broadcast.

When you arrive at the location of that certain plant and land the ship nearby, you will get to meet someone on the ground. The Sentinels will suddenly (and rudely) interrupt your lovely chat with that individual and will have to dispose of these enemies. After that, you will have to complete certain activities to formally become the Overseer.

First, players will need to apply to become the Overseer at the center of the town and after getting accepted, they can now visit the Overseer’s Office. They can now start building the Ferrite Dust and be on standby for two minutes. After that, build and submit five Metal Platings for the next activity and then wait for two more minutes. Lastly, build and then hand out the three Microprocessors and then wait for two more minutes. Do not worry, this is the last time you will have to wait for the activities to finish.

You can now go around and interact with the terminals inside the office. You can also choose which buildings to construct and see the materials needed for it. It will need some time to build, but it will be a good way to pass up the time.

Watch Out for Some Random Events

In the settlement, players will sometimes experience some random event happening within. It can come as some random visitor looking for you and handing out a message, disputes among neighbors, surprise attacks from Sentinels, and more. It is all random and it can either impact the lives of the inhabitants or pay off big with some big capital.

Can You Get Another Settlement After Owning One?

You can technically get another settlement if you do not like where your first one is situated, but it will cost a bit. Just head to a system you like to settle in and buy the Planetary Chart from the Space Station Cartographer.

The only problem is that you can only oversee one settlement and the previous one will be abandoned. No one knows what will happen to the previous one though.

No Man’s Sky is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
