Game company Sony Interactive Entertainment just revealed the PlayStation 4 accessories or peripherals that will work on the next-gen console PlayStation 5.
In the recent June Future of Gaming digital event, the company revealed the different kinds of peripherals and accessories of PS5 that will be available this coming holiday season. Some gamers, however, asked if there will be some PS4 accessories or peripherals that will be compatible with the next-gen console. Here is the list:
Which existing PS4 peripherals/accessories will work on PS5?
- Specialty peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks, will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games.
- The Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PS5 (the headset companion app is not compatible with PS5).
- The DualShock 4 wireless controller and PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PS4 games.
- Both the PS Move Motion Controllers and the PlayStation VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5.
SIE does note that not all PlayStation officially licensed or third-party items will work on the PS5. This may be because of software or hardware incompatibility. They ask owners to check with the manufacturers for confirmation.
The game company revealed that the DualShock 4 controller will not work with the PS5 games. They think that the PS5 games must take advantage of the new capabilities and features that the DualSense offers.
It was also confirmed that the PlayStation Camera will work with the PS5 in order to play supported PS VR games. The best part is that this will need a PlayStation Camera adaptor that will be offered to owners at no additional cost. There will be more details sometime later.
