PlayStation 5 Launch Title Line-up Stronger Compared to Previous PS Consoles According to Jim Ryan

The launch title line-up for an upcoming next-generation console is one of the assets that make it more appealing to a possible buyer. Just like the previous console systems that Sony Interactive Entertainment has developed in the past, the newest PlayStation 5 has its own big line-up of launch games. But how does it compare to its predecessors?

According to SIE CEO Jim Ryan, “There’s just no comparison.”

Ryan shares in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz that comparing the line-up that the PS5 has when it launches this coming November 12, the PS4 and PS3 console systems did not have that much. The next-gen PlayStation console has Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Astroy’s Playroom as exclusives. Then there are other triple A games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, The Pathless, Bugsnax, and Godfall.

Compare that to the PS4 and PS3 consoles, they are lackluster in launch games. There were only a few at that time. PS4 did grow exponentially afterwards, which was thanks to how SIE’s acquisitioned studios grew organically over the years. Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, and Sucker Punch, to name a few have given us top-quality games on the current-gen PlayStation console. They did not do it by spending a lot of money in a spree, but with “carefully planned organic growth.”

PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12 in the US, Japan, and select few countries. The rest of the world will get it on November 19.
