Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Justifies Increased Price for PlayStation 5 Games

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan recently shared in an exclusive interview with The Telegraph that the new price of the PlayStation 5 is justified.

Ryan defended the price increase, which was from $60 to $70 for US prices. According to him, the newer titles provided much entertainment as other types. He believes that it is a fair price.

“If you measure the hours of entertainment provided by a video game, such as Demon’s Souls compared to any other form of entertainment, I think that’s a very straightforward comparison to draw,” Ryan shared.

The CEO was then asked if future PS5 exclusive titles will have the same prices too. Many executives have said this is specifically true, but Ryan did not clarify if it would. He says that he will not make any predictions about that for now. He did state that the reports about the company considered higher pricing for first-party games in this launch window were categorically false. What he meant was that particular rumor about SIE planning to go beyond $70 for first-party titles.

Ryan also denied nor confirmed that upcoming video game God of War Ragnarok would be coming to PS4. He did not say anything to confirm and only said he has nothing more to say about it.

PlayStation 5 is now available in Japan, US, and select few countries. Everyone else will get it on November 19.
