Sonic Frontiers Surpasses Record of Previous Top 3D Sonic Title

Sonic Heroes was the previous king of 3D Sonic games.

A new report has revealed that Sonic Frontiers has now taken the throne of a record that was previously held by a popular 3D Sonic title for a long time.

According to a recent press conference by SEGA, Sonic Frontiers has now sold around 3.5 million copies. It has now become the best-selling 3D Sonic title. This top spot was recently held by the popular 3D game Sonic Heroes.

Sonic Frontiers was such a risky move for SEGA at the time, but they have pulled it off after launch and have gained this much sales. It was a gamble that has paid off rather handsomely and now is one of the most popular titles this year.

Compared to other big titles out there, Sonic Frontiers cannot compare yet, but it just means SEGA has finally developed a title that has sold more than the previous title holder, Sonic Heroes, which was launched way back in the early 2000s. The fandom might have carried most of those numbers, but it does seem that more gamers are now interested in Sonic this time compared to the previous titles that were only able to sell a lot due to the fandom.

Sonic Frontiers is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
