After the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, GSC Game World announced that they will be temporarily halt all development of their upcoming video game sequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in order to get their staff and their families to safety first. There was no word when they would resume their work, but it seems everyone will not have to wait longer with the newest development.
According to a report by a Czech Media Outlet translated by VGC, it was revealed that GSC Game World seems to be planning to move the development of their game to the Czech Republic where they could resume safely. Some of the leaders of the studio are already asking around game studios in Czech Republic on how to transfer their company to their country.
One report comes from the chairman of the Association of Czech Game Developers, Pavel Barak. GSC Game World has made some inquiries about relocating, he revealed. It seems the leaders are looking for ways to make a good and solid place to stay before they could relocate and resume work. Barak then gave GSC Game World advice on the legal and employment matters.
Ashborne Games Petr Kolar, which is based in Brno, Czech Republic, has recently been in contact with GSC Game World talking about relocation. Jan Cavan of Czech Studio CBD Software also reports he has been talking with the Ukrainian based game studio and gave them instructions on how to start a company in their country.
It seems GSC Game World is now making sure they will continue work with their project and are intent in completing it even if they are going to be on another country.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is still in development. It will be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
