Sucker Punch Employee Reportedly Fired After Controversial Social Media Posts

A senior developer at Ghost of Tsushima studio Sucker Punch Productions has reportedly been fired following backlash over social media comments related to the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

The developer, Drew Harrison, sparked controversy after posting on Bluesky shortly after news of Kirk’s assassination broke. In the post, Harrison wrote: “I hope the shooter’s name is Mario so that Luigi knows his bro got his back.”

The comment quickly spread online, drawing criticism. Harrison later followed up, saying that instead of targeting her employer, critics should focus on pushing for stricter gun control laws.

Shortly after, Harrison’s LinkedIn profile was updated to show her departure from Sucker Punch after nearly 10 years at the studio. Reports suggest the change coincided with her dismissal, though neither Sucker Punch nor Sony Interactive Entertainment has issued an official statement regarding the situation.

In a later post, Harrison stood by her comments, stating: “If standing up against fascism is what cost me my dream job I held for 10 years, I would do it again 100x stronger.”

Harrison worked on both Ghost of Tsushima and the upcoming Ghost of Yotei. Her reported firing has sparked debate online, with some defending her right to political expression and others condemning the tone of her remarks.
