Bandai Namco’s Tekken franchise has always been great on handheld devices especially on the PlayStation Portable back in its time. With Nintendo Switch’s great run for this year, Tekken 7 might come to Nintendo Switch if the demand is really high.
According to the Tekken 7 Director, Katshuiro Harada, and Designer, Michael Murray, in a GameSpot interview, they were asked about a possible Nintendo Switch port. While nothing is still planned for a Nintendo Switch port, the possibility is still clear if people start putting the word out that they want Tekken 7 for the hybrid console.
“But like we said, we’re not quite aware of how many people out there are looking for Tekken 7 on Switch.” according to both Murray and Harada. They added “Maybe it starts by people saying, ‘Hey, this something that I really want.’ And we would go from there, but who knows? At the moment, nothing planned.”
Harada and Murray also mentioned that it will require more work with the game’s engine, Unreal Engine 4, before it can be possible for Nintendo Switch. “There are a lot of things that people don’t realize, we have to reprogram on our side to make it work well with Unreal Engine. That was just for the current hardware, so you can imagine that for Switch. Especially at launch, that’s something that wasn’t a viable option.”
Tekken 7 will surely be a hit on the Nintendo Switch when a port is on its way. Read our review of the PS4 version right here.
