The Callisto Protocol Update 5.01 Finally Adds Feature Similar to Dead Space Mechanic

Striking Distance Studios has recently released The Callisto Protocol update 5.01 today adding a new feature similar to a popular Dead Space mechanic.

Players who love this certain mechanic from Dead Space will definitely feel nostalgic seeing this on Glen Schofield’s latest title, The Callisto Protocol. The latest update, version 5.01, introduces Dismemberment Mode, a similar feature that Dead Space had where the Necromorphs’ limbs can be dismembered. In The Callisto Protocol, players can instantly dismember the limbs of the Biophages via melee or ranged weapons.

We're thankful for all of the feedback our community has shared with us!

In the original version of the game, players needed to hit or shoot enemies multiple times before the limbs come off. This new mode will let them dismember enemies in one shot with a gun or hack with a melee weapon.

No word yet if this feature can be accessed as a separate mode from the base version of the game or if it will be a setting that can be toggled. Do note that when players play this version, they will not be able to unlock Achievements or Trophies since instant dismemberment is exactly how it sounds: enemies get killed and dismembered in one hit.

The update also introduces Skippable Cutscenes which makes replayability and speed-runs faster. No more need to wait for cutscenes to complete.

The Callisto Protocol is now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Callisto Protocol Update 5.01 is now available.
