Top 5 Villains That Should Appear in Marvel’s Wolverine

SNIKT!! SNIKT!!!

During PlayStation’s latest showcase, Insomniac Games announced a new Marvel game that they are developing entitled, “Marvel’s Wolverine.” With that being said, We, as Marvel fans, are wondering which villains will be showing in the game and what would happen should they be in the same room as Marvel’s rampaging mutant. We have listed down 5 possible enemies that Wolverine might face in Insomniac’s new game project.

Sabertooth

Victor Creed, aka Sabertooth, has an iconic rivalry with Wolverine for many decades spanning through dozens of comics, movies and TV series as well.

He first debuted in Iron Fist comics and was later used for the X-Men comics when Professor Xavier tried to recruit him but was turned down. When he heard that Logan joined the team, however, he quickly tried to harm Xavier but failed. Since then, Sabertooth tried tormenting Logan several ways in both the X-men comics and his own series. His mutant powers are superhuman abilities such strength, speed, and endurance. He has regenerative healing powers that rivals that of Wolverine’s and sharp claws and fangs making him very lethal.

In the game, there is a high chance that Sabertooth will be used as one of the many bosses of the game that will try to hunt and kill Wolverine. Not only that, he may be working under Department K to enchance himself better and will be used more throughout the game.

Omega Red

Arkady Grigorievich Rossovich, aka Omega Red, is a Russian mutant who was enhanced by his own country to protect the motherland. His enhancements were of carbonadium, a resilient, radioactive metal that was vastly stronger than steel, but more malleable and cheaper than adamantium. Due to its malleability, carbonadium was less durable than true adamantium, but still nearly indestructible.

Omega Red’s first encounter with Wolverine happened when Logan and his old team stole a device that belonged to his homeland and learned that there was a double agent working for them. Furious at what transpired, Omega Red confronted Wolverine and proceeded to have his revenge against him. He ambushed his new teammates, the X-Men, and has dealt mostly physical trauma to Wolverine and nearly killing Jubilee. His mutant powers puts him squarely in Omega level, making him extremely dangerous. He has super human abilities and can emit lethal pheromones (death spores) from his body. These spores cause weakness and/or death to anyone in his vicinity. The severity of the effect is based on the endurance, health, and relative proximity of the victims. Normal humans can be killed or incapacitated after a matter of seconds after exposure, while a being with exceptionally accelerated healing powers and physical stamina can sustain exposure for minutes or hours. He also uses carbonadium tentacles that pierce and enhance his abilities to consume the life force of his enemies.

As for his appearance in Marvel’s Wolverine, this villain might enter the game as either an extra mission from Logan’s past memories or crossing paths during a mission, but no one knows for sure. There is also the chance that we might get him as a possible side boss character, hunting Logan down, and leaving certain clues for us to find out.

Lady Deathstrike

Yuriko Oyama, aka Lady Deathstrike, is a skilled mutant who possesses cyber enhanced mutant powers that increase her strength, speed and healing powers. Her main weapon of choice is her nail manipulation, ten extendable razor sharp finger nails she can elongate up to 12′ (300 mm) in length each. The claws, much like her cybernetic skeleton, are laced with adamantium which enables her to cut and pierce through any substance.

Her relationship with Wolverine is tricky as her father was one of those who planned the use of adamantium on mutant skeletons, particularly on Wolverine. After the events that led to Wolverine’s experimentation, Yuriko learned of Logan’s escape and planned to capture and obtain the adamantium skeleton from his to benefit her family, but ultimately fails. Since their first confrontation, their rivalry has caused some unstable moments in their lives through and through

Lady Deathstrike will be critical in the game as she might be assigned as one of the assassins who hunt Logan, and works with Sabertooth to obtain the adamantum skeleton with the goal of enhancing herself. I see her having a deadly duel through the snowy woods and causing lethal damage by pouncing on Logan and piercing him with her long nails.

Silver Samurai

Keniuchio Harada is a mutant and the illegitimate son of the former Japanese crime lord Shingen Harada, head of the Clan Yashida. Following his father’s death, Harada sought control of Shingen’s Clan Yashida from his half-sister Mariko Yashida, but was opposed by the Ronin Yukio and Wolverine. Enraged by this, Harada tried to challenge Wolverine but failed in the process. Since then, he started doing mercenary jobs going under the guise of the Silver Samurai but ultimately, led his clan following the death of his half sister.

Harada’s mutant powers gives him the ability to generate a tachyon energy field from within his body. Though he can focus this energy through anything, he typically focuses this field through his sword; allowing it to cut through almost any substance. He is also a master of kenjutsu, taijutsu and bushido as well.

The Harada clan will play a huge part of Wolverine’s story as the Silver Samurai might be used as a flashback scene to show much of Logan’s dark past and relationships he had with the clan. Insomniac might use Silver Samurai as tutorial boss to practice Logan’s skills such as agility and stealth. Not only that, I see him conducting a series of challenge side missions to unlock new skills for Wolverine to use in Marvel’s Wolverine.

Abraham Cornelius

Known to be the man responsible for Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton, Abraham Cornelius is a mad scientist who worked with Lady Deathstrike’s father to create the process. Some time after World War II, Wolverine was taken in by the project and doctor Abraham was assigned with the task of perfecting and using a technique that would bond the indestructible alloy adamantium to human bone cells.

Even if he has no mutant abilities, Cornelius is not one to be underestimated as he knows how to kill Wolverine and will stop at nothing to recapture and reprogram Logan as his weapon of mass destruction.

If I were to direct Marvel’s Wolverine, I could see Cornelius as the big mastermind behind the hunt of Wolverine. Using any means possible, I see him either controlling a clone version of Logan that is a mindless, raging beast or used a modified version of the Sentinel to fight Wolverine as the final boss of the game.

With all these villains that might come out in Marvel’s Wolverine, fans will be anticipating more on what to expect next year from Insomniac for the PS5 project. Marvel’s Wolverine has no release date but is confirmed to be a PS5 exclusive. For more news about upcoming announcements, hear from us first at Sirus Gaming.
