Warhammer 40000: Space Marines 2 has become one of the most successful shooter games to be released by developer Saber Interactive. In just two weeks, it has become a major hit and many players have gathered together to give its full support. Recently, an interview with IGN and Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits revealed that an idea for Space Marines 3 could be in the works and vows to make it even bigger than the current entry.

According to Tim Willits, Warhammer 40000: Space Marines 2 has become so successful that it has had a positive effect on future projects. Though no sales figures have been announced, the company has confirmed that it had over 2 million players upon its launch and is the most played Warhammer game to be played on Steam with over 220,000 plus players.

Proud of the success of it being the fastest-selling game, Willist hopes that this game will have a higher number of players in terms of co-op similar to the likes of World War Z and Left 4 Dead. Not only that, he hopes to see the same success level in their future games such as A Quiet Place and Toxic Command coming up soon.

Quoting Willits, “The success of Space Marine 2 means Saber staff can now dream bigger. The company will make good on its post-launch plan which involves new missions, modes, maps, enemies, and weapons, but it will also make adjustments. There will be a possibility of a new story DLC and will have ideas of having Space Marine 3 soon.

Our game director Dmitry Grigorenko, has proposed some story ideas that could either be DLC or a sequel. We’re just catching our breath. This is two weeks out. We just need to get the dust to settle. But I can confidently say that we will not disappoint our Warhammer fans in the future. It’s too big of a success! I know that’s an obvious thing to say, but hopefully, we’ll be working on Space Marine content for a long time.

Ideas for Space Marine 3 were also revealed in the interview and the company would want to work again with Focus and Games Workshop. Saber is working on adding new factions, new classes, and many new updates for Space Marine 2 and hopes that they will be released on their next Space Marine game.
