Developer Windrose Crew has announced that Windrose will launch in Early Access on April 14 for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Stove, following its latest showcase appearance.
Revealed during the Triple-i Initiative showcase, the upcoming pirate survival adventure invites players to take on the role of a captain seeking revenge, exploring a vast open world either solo or in co-op groups of up to four players.
Windrose blends survival mechanics, exploration, and Souls-lite combat across both land and sea. Players will be able to explore three distinct biomes, complete quests, battle enemies, and discover handcrafted locations within a procedurally generated world. Combat features a mix of melee and ranged weapons, including sabers, maces, and muskets, alongside large-scale boss encounters.
The Early Access version will introduce dozens of hours of content, expanding on the foundation established in the game’s Steam Next Fest demo, which attracted over 850,000 players. The upcoming build also includes fan-requested features such as co-op ship battles, allowing players to share control of a vessel’s weapons and coordinate attacks during naval encounters.
Seamless gameplay between land exploration and ship navigation remains a core focus, with players able to command multiple ship types, customize their loadouts, and engage in both long-range cannon battles and close-quarters boarding actions. Outside of combat, players can build settlements, recruit NPCs, and develop their own pirate outposts through crafting and resource management systems.
The game’s story centers on a rising pirate captain challenging the legacy of Blackbeard, with the narrative expanding into a broader conflict involving rival factions, empires, and supernatural threats.
Windrose is set to enter Early Access on April 14.
