Xbox Games to Come at Larger Variety of Price Points

The reveal of the first price for a next generation game came from game company 2K with its next basketball video game NBA 2K1, which is $70 for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Do note that this particular title will not have the Smart Delivery feature since the next-gen version has its own price. This still has made a lot of gamers quite worried of the price tag for the upcoming games that will play on the next-gen consoles.

Xbox Chief Phil Spencer shares his opinion about the new price point and what Xbox can offer for their gaming community.

Spencer confessed that he cannot divulge details on what the Xbox first-party games will cost, but he did stress something out. He promised that the upcoming games will now come at a larger variety of price points than ever before. This also includes several high-quality free-to-play games. Some of those games coming to next-gen are Fortnite and Warframe, which are both quite high-quality games.

The Xbox chief continued:

As an industry, we can price things whatever we want to price them, and the customer will decide what the right price is for them. I’m not negative on people setting a new price point for games because I know everybody’s going to drive their own decisions based on their own business needs. But gamers have more choice today than they ever have. In the end, I know the customer is in control of the price that they pay, and I trust that system.

Most of the Xbox Series X games are available on Xbox One, so that would mean the prices will still be the same. Only a few next-gen titles would have increased prices if the publishers would follow suit with what 2K set on. So for now, we can relax and purchase without worry.

Xbox Series X will launch this coming holidays 2020.
