A Microsoft spokesperson has officially denied that an Xbox Series X VR headset is in the works after a rumor about it popped up recently.
Italian branch of media outlet IGN has recently reported online that while testing a new Xbox Wireless Headset, a prompt appeared on their display while the Xbox Series X was plugged in. It stated that the VR Headset was in need of an update. This made them assume that there could be a VR headset in the works.
That is not the case, according to the Microsoft spokesperson. He denied that there is a VR headset in the works, and the message was inaccurate. Here is the statement given to IGN:
The copy in this error message is inaccurate due to a localization bug. VR for console is not a focus for us at this time.
So, the dream of having a VR headset for the Xbox consoles is gone. At least that got cleared up right away.
