Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Got Delayed by Over a Year for Polish

Nintendo wanted a perfect and playable game on release.

It was announced that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was actually delayed for a good reason.

In a new interview with Series Producer Eiji Aonuma, it was revealed to The Washington Post that Nintendo intentionally delayed the release of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom way back in March 2022 to an unspecified 2023 date. Its purpose was to purely polish the game up to make sure everything was 100 percent to Nintendo‘s standards.

Aonuma also stated that the 13-minute gameplay video of the game was the result of a last-minute decision at Nintendo. The development team noticed that there was a lack of enthusiasm after the trailer reveal.

“People had not gotten their heads around the gameplay elements or where the fun might be,” Aonuma said. Nintendo then decided to make a video that featured Aonuma explaining the game’s concepts. It was a 13-minute demonstration of the game’s mechanics. This then gained the interest of the fans and the gaming community.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
