Narrative Director Tells Reason For Introducing Quads In Call Of Duty Warzone

Call of Duty Warzone was in a bit of hot water due to the game developers Infinity Ward suddenly removing Trios and added Quads as an option for game modes. Solos mode was fun, but there were people from the gaming community who hated the Quads mode. For them, it was hard to communicate with more than three strangers in one squad, so they complained about it. Good thing the developers listened and they added back Trios again with the latest update.

But why did the team added Quads in the first place? Infinity Ward narrative director Taylor Kurosaki recently talked with Venture Beat and shared some idea of the reason behind such move in the first place.

Call of Duty Warzone wanted to keep things fresh

Kurosaki divulged that it was really to keep things fresh for their players. The development team knew that the quad is a tried and true way of playing multiplayer. He stated that there are a lot of people out there who like to squad up with four members, which is why Infinity Ward made sure there was a spot for all four.

The narrative director did say that there are many other ways to play. They want to keep granting the wishes of their player base for the types of configurations they want.

There are times where a whole squad does not have voice chat support, which is why they would opt for the ping system in order to have their operators communicate with each other. Kurosaki is most impressed with this method because it allows players to express and communicate freely with what they have on hand.

Game is holding up in pandemic times

Kurosaki shared his firsthand experience of how well Call of Duty Warzone is holding up in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Many players are now holed up in their homes, which meant there is more gaming activity and internet traffic is quite high. He proudly said that the game system is currently perfect right now without any issues in matches. He did confess that there are a bit of slowdowns when there are updates and big content downloads, but when it came to matches it was smooth sailing.

The narrative director also said that he has heard and read that a lot of people out there are thankful for having Call of Duty Warzone to keep them company while being stuck at home.

The free-to-play battle royale video game is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
