Nintendo eShop for 3DS and Wii U to be closed

The closure date for the online shop system for the 3DS and Wii U will be happening on July 31 across 42 countries. Yes, these will be completely closed across Latin America and the Carribean. So better redownload your content right away before the servers close down.

The official statement states:

Users in the affected regions will no longer be able to access [the eShops] to redeem a download code, redownload software, or update software, so we encourage users to take any such actions before the closure date.

Also, any software that requires the limited Nintendo eShops to operate may cease to function.

Aside from redownloading previous content, Nintendo also recommended to check the shop for any updates available for any software that was purchased, and redeem any download codes that have yet to be redeemed. So redeem them all, download all the stuffs, and let that stay in your system for the rest of time. You cannot get them back if you delete that again.

In regards to the reason why Nintendo has decided to close it down, they did not specify the reason. They also said that there is nothing to announce related to the topic. So that’s that.
